We held our 3rd Parenting Café about Disaster Preparedness!

We had our 3rd Parenting Café of the year at Starbucks Tsunehisa on Saturday, September 26th! This event was supported by Starbucks Coffee Japan’s ”Social impact” program.

The topic this time was disaster preparedness. Disasters can happen at any time, so it’s easy to put off preparing for things like earthquakes.
To make it fun for the kids, we played a card game called “Bousai Duck.” Created by the General Insurance Association of Japan, Bousai Duck is an educational game for young children. One side shows a disaster or danger, and the other shows a cute animal posture that teaches kids how to stay safe!

We also showed parents from overseas what to prepare when evacuating with babies and toddlers. We showed them an emergency backpack packed with the absolute essentials.Mother’s Tree Japan, a local NPO supporting foreign residents, provided us with this emergency bag.

The Miyazaki City International Association will continue to offer useful information for foreign families raising kids in Miyazaki. We will also keep creating spaces where parents can meet, share ideas, and support each other!
